The lane along Portmead Drove is rather damp

There’s something wonderful about walking in the rain on Autumn day – as long as you’ve got the right clothes on. Sloshing along Portmead Drove to the reservoir and back has a cathartic effect on the mind. Just the sound of rain and wind – and the sight of scores of house martins darting backwards and forwards in search of a late meal before their flight south.
