grandad and me polka theatre

Gordon Warnecke is playing at grandfathers this winter. The actor is in Grandad, Me… and Teddy Too at the Polka adventure Theatre in Wimbledon until February entertaining that most appreciative of audiences: the pre-schoolers.
Mia loves her Grandad very much. He lives far away, on the other side of the world, but finally he’s coming to visit and Mia’s excitement is growing. When Grandad arrives he brings with him adventurous stories and games which set Mia’s imagination alight. Hop like a kangaroo, take tea with a duck and jump aboard a magic carpet ride to the icy North Pole, as Grandad, Mia (and Teddy Too) share an unforgettable adventure to wherever their imaginations take them.
The production features original music, playful humour and an immersive set where audiences enter a magical winter garden, sitting on the soft grass amidst twinkling fairy lights in frosty trees to be part of the show. The show is designed so parents and grandparents bringing their young children will enjoy a shared experience. Children are also invited to bring along their own treasured Teddy or toy to enjoy the performance as well.
Director Sarah Argent said: “We received lovely stories about the joys of being a grandparent. One of the most fascinating discoveries was that so many children’s main contact with their grandparents (whether their grandparents are elsewhere in the UK, in Europe, or much further away) is via Skype or Facetime. Our Grandad does have some grey hairs but, like lots of Grandads of small children nowadays, he’s still very active and charming and great fun.”
Grandad, Me… and Teddy Too is playing in Polka’s Adventure Theatre for ages 2 – 5 from 8 October 2014 – 8 February 2015. Tickets are £11.50 , £9 concessions (with a £1.50 booking fee). Box Office on 020 8543 4888 or visit www.polkatheatre.com.
