Replenishing Cheddar Reservoir

Every autumn the reservoir at Cheddar in Somerset, England, is replenished. This summer (2020) the levels didn’t fall as much as some summers. It’s quite a sight to see the pumping in action. More about the reservoir and the area at http://www.harrymottram.co.uk/strawberry-line-times/

Built in the 1930s Cheddar Reservoir in Somerset lies between the town of Axbridge and the village of Cheddar in England. It occasionally freezes over but in 2018 it was affected by snow and ice as this video shows. It is the only reservoir built in the shape of a strawberry and can be seen from space.

Tractors, toddlers and princesses – a short film of Axbridge Carnival 2016

This year’s carnival was blessed by good weather and featured a record number of walking entries as the procession wound its way through Axbridge’s narrow streets. Note the Blackberry Fair in the Square – an unusual aspect of the event which adds colour and sound to the day.
