By Harry Mottram: The West Country based seven piece band Sidetracks played to a full house at the Cider Barn in Draycott on a freezing Sunday night (February 5th, 2023) with a selection of tracks from the golden age of West Coast Rock and classic 70s ballads. From America’s Ventura Highway to the Beatles and beyond the lead female vocalists Jo Hogg from Axbridge and Cynthia Taylor from Catcott (pictured) in Somerset gave voice to a series of songs with style and vocal range that entranced the boomer audience at the quirky venue.

The band say they are inspired by the Americana harmony sounds of the 1960s and 1970s Americana music. From the Mamas and Papas and the Eagles, to Jefferson Airship and José Feliciano, the mixture of cool sounds went down well with the packed pub. And the band’s singer Cynthia had bought a fan club with her – former Somerset College of Arts and Technology art students in Taunton her friend Tessa, plus Frank Holmes, John Speller and David Mitchell.

Established more than 10 years ago the Cider Barn on the A371 with its graphic prints and range of ciders and beers is a popular venue for live music. For details visit https://www.theciderbarn.net/
